KARACHI: Harkat man’s death sentence commuted

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 21: The Sindh High Court dismissed on Thursday an appeal moved by an activist of the outlawed Harkat Al Mujahideen Al Alami Kamran alias Atif in a terrorism case involving an encounter with police but commuted the death sentence awarded to him to life imprisonment.

The bench also modified the life imprisonment awarded to the appellant for possessing explosive substance to 10 years’ jail.

However, the court remanded the charge relating to the recovery of explosive substance from Kamran’s house for trial by an ordinary court as it did not fall within the purview of the Anti-Terrorist Act.
