KARACHI, Dec 21: The University of Karachi on Thursday released the admission lists of BS and Pharm-D programmes for the ensuing session commencing in January. A KU notification said that lists could be viewed at the varsity’s main gate and in case of any objections, applicants could submit claim forms from December 22 to 27. Claim forms will be available from UBL branch at the KU’s Silver Jubilee gate on payment of Rs200.

Admissions were closed in Food Science and Technology at 79.36 per cent, the maximum percentage shown against any department, followed by 76.91 in Pharmacy, 76.41 in Mass Communication and 76.26 in Chemistry (DAE) and 76 per cent in English.

In the meantime, the varsity has also announced to accept registration forms of MA/Double MA and improvement of division for external annual examination, 2006 from December 22 to February 15, 2007, without late fee.

Enrolment forms and fees of BL/LLM for the academic session 2006-07 will be accepted from January 1 to 31 without late fee, while with late fee of Rs500 forms can be submitted from February 5 to 28, said a KU notification.

The KU also announced the results of MA (Final) regular annual exams-2005 of Economics, Education, Islamic Studies, Islamic History, Mass Communication, Political Science and Urdu.

KU SENATE: The senate of the varsity, which met on Wednesday with, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, who is also the chancellor of the university, in the chair approved the varsity’s budget and statues of a couple of institutes established at the KU under public-private collaboration.

According to a KU press release, the total volume of the budget is Rs1,057.9 million, while the expected income in the shape of HEC grant is Rs681.84 million and university’s own resource generation has been estimated around Rs368.7 million.

The KU vice-chancellor, Dr Pirzada Qasim, also made a presentation to the chancellor regarding uplift projects on the campus. Dr Ibad also performed the inauguration of the new building of Foreign Faculty Visiting Hostel.
