KARACHI: Kidnapper confesses to killing boy

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 21: A suspect accused of kidnapping an eight-year-old boy late last month told police on Thursday that the victim had been killed on the second day of his abduction despite the fact that his parents paid the ransom.

The suspect, Asif Brohi, who was a neighbour of the victim’s family in Malir City, was arrested on Thursday.

Police said the boy, Faisal, was kidnapped on Nov 29 and the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of Rs500,000. The kidnappers broke off communication when the ransom – brought down to Rs30,000 after nerve-wracking negotiations – was paid. But the boy’s father told the police neighbour Brohi might have been involved in the case.

Brohi told his interrogators that the boy’s body had been dumped into a well in Memon Goth. Police found the body on Thursday.
