Woman, two sons kidnapped

DADU, Dec 20: Armed men kidnapped a woman and her two children in Naulakho village, Dadu taluka on Wednesday reportedly over a matrimonial dispute. Ms Shabana Channa, sister of the kidnapped woman, told reporters at the local press club that Roshan and Qadan Dayo barged into her home, held the family hostage at gunpoint and snatched her sister Inyatan Channa along with her two children Asad, 5, and Ghulam Shabbir, 7.

She said that she informed police but they refused to register a case and said that would lodge a complaint in court against police for not registering the case.

DBA ELECTIONS: People’s Lawyers Forum made a clean sweep in the elections for District Bar Association Dadu held under the supervision of district attorney on Wednesday.

Shafi Mohammad Memon Advocate was elected president, Hashim Chandio vice-president, Ms Rashida Panhwar general secretary, Ghulam Mustafa Shani joint secretary, Ghulam Asghar treasure and Aijaz Qureshi was elected as library secretary.

Pir Mazharul Haq, Pir Mujeeb and Ali Ahmed were elected unopposed as members of executive committee.

RAID: A team of anti-corruption police arrested two officials on Wednesday after it unearthed a fraud of Rs2 million in the roads department in a raid on the office of district officer roads.

The team seized the record on the construction of Piaro-Pat Sharif link road in which it detected Rs2 million fraud.

TOKEN HUNGER STRIKE: A large number of irrigation employees of southern division on Wednesday observed token hunger strike outside the local press club to protest against deduction of Rs200 to Rs300 from their salaries.
