HYDERABAD, Dec 20: Sindh Taraqi Passand Party (STPP) has demanded institution of an interim government before holding general elections comprising the senior judges of Supreme Court who had refused to take oath under Provisional Constitutional Order and said the party will fully take part in elections

The demand came at the conclusion of a two-day session of STPP central committee on Tuesday. It decided that the party would hold a rally in Hyderabad on December 27 to protest against the sale of Sindh's islands and hold a people’s assembly in Hyderabad on February 4 on Sindh's rights.

The meeting demanded that all the people who had settled in Sindh after 1954 should not be allowed to vote in general elections and decided to convene an all parties conference in Karachi on February 18 against the alleged conspiracy to create new provinces.

The meeting further decided to hold annual party congress on January 14 and 15 and celebrate "Youm-i-Madre Watan" on March 21, 2007.

Party chairman Dr Qadir Magsi later said while briefing reporters at Taraqi Passand House that the resistance movement had earlier successfully prevented Musharraf government from mobilising public opinion in Sindh on Kalabagh dam.

The rulers had again raised the Kalabagh issue which he said was tantamount to taking revenge for resisting, he said. He rejected the argument that the creation of new provinces and division of Sindh would solve the problem of provincial autonomy.
