ISLAMABAD, Dec 19: The epidemic investigation cell of the health ministry in its latest report, issued here on Tuesday, claimed that the problem of dengue and viral haemorrhagic fever had been overcome as the laboratory-diagnosed positive cases stood at zero.
Elaborating on the situation, federal secretary health Syed Anwar Mahmood quoting the figures of last 24 hours received from all over the country said that only three suspected cases were brought to hospitals in Sindh and even they were proved clear in laboratory diagnosis.
Whereas in rest of the country, there were no referrals or suspected admissions.
Since the outbreak of disease in October this year a total number of 6,054 suspected patients were brought to hospitals, out of which 2,316 were diagnosed as positive.
The number of patients who succumbed to disease remained 52 which is 0.3 per cent of the total reported cases.—Staff Reporter
