DADU, Dec 19: The staff of the govt boys primary school in Sharif Junejo Goth, closed since last five years, had been drawing salaries without any lapse.
The irregularity was detected by the Sindh Chief Minister's monitoring team for education during a surprise visit on Tuesday.
The team, led by its chairman Dharamdas along with two members Ahmed Sadiq and Mohammad Usman Memon, paid a surprise visit to the school in Mehar taluka which was found operating on papers only for the last five years.
The team found that the school was lying closed with doors of its classes locked, while donkeys and other animals were roaming in school building. The staff was also absent from their duty.
The chairman of team, Dharamdas said that the primary school was lying closed for the last five years but teachers and other staff were drawing salaries regularly. He said that the condition of the school was worst as heaps of dust and garbage were lying in the building.
He said that teachers Sagheer Janwari and Mohammad Soomar Zardari, watchman Gul Mohammad, peon Raza Mohammad, were drawing salaries every month. He said that the team visited on the complaint of Bakht, Niaz Janwari, Ali Bux Junejo and Allah Warayo Janwari.
He said that he had informed the EDO of education for taking action and open the school. He said that the village has a population of 500 but enrolment was nil. He said that he would send this report to CM for further action.
FUNDS CUT: The district council members complained on Tuesday that the EDO finance was deducting Rs16,000 from funds of each union council of the district every month and demanded action against him.
The session was presided over by the district naib nazim, Syed Mohammad Shah.
Member Ali Bux Solangi in his motion said that EDO finance was deducting Rs16,000 from funds of every UC. He said that the amount should be recovered and an inquiry be conducted.
Other members, Abid Lakhair and Ali Mohammad Soomro, while supporting the motion, said this was only district in Sindh where finance department was deducting funds of the UCs.
The EDO finance, Noor Mohammad Leghari, maintained that the funds were being deducted for renovation of UC nazims offices. The district naib nazim said, this practice should be stopped and offices of UC nazims should be renovated from other related funds.
Earlier, members also staged a demonstration against the EDO finance.
The house unanimously passed a resolution demanding funds of UCs should be released every month.
