Nursing students on strike

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 19: Nursing students boycotted their classes on Tuesday to protest against a clerk. Clerk Altaf Dogar had allegedly burst into the nursing hostel on the DHQ Hospital premises late on Monday night and misbehaved with the students. He was allegedly drunk.

Executive district officer health and medical superintendent Dr Azhar Hayat constituted an inquiry team comprising Dr Bahar Amin and Dr Mubashar and found the clerk guilty of the charge. He was suspended immediately.

A show-cause notice was also issued to nursing school principal Sheba Arshad over poor administration.

MMA leaders Muhammad Jamil, Allama Yousaf Sialvi and Rana Tufail Dastgir deplored the incident and demanded a criminal case against the clerk.

Meanwhile, the nursing students said they would continue their protest till a stern action was taken against the clerk.

ARRESTED: Sheikhupura police on Tuesday arrested four criminals after an encounter while one of them managed to escape from police custody.

SHOT DEAD: A telephone department employee was shot dead in Kalalwala village on Jaranwala Road on Tuesday.

Amin, who worked in Lahore, came to see his relative Majeed in Kalalwala village.

Unidentified killer(s) shot him dead for unknown reasons.

SHOT AT: A factory owner was injured by two dacoits on Tuesday.

The victim was on his way home when robbers intercepted him. They shot at and injured him on resistance. He was admitted in hospital.
