MUMBAI, Dec 19: A special court on Tuesday extended bail for Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt, who was found guilty last month of illegal weapons possession during deadly 1993 bomb attacks in India's financial hub.
The terrorism court extended Mr Dutt's bail until December 21, Judge P.D. Kode said.
The Mumbai court was expected to sentence Mr Dutt this month, a trial lawyer said.
The 47-year-old action hero was one of 123 people accused in India's worst terrorist attacks that left 257 dead, though he was acquitted of any role in the bloodshed.
The burly actor, who was freed on bail after serving 18 months in jail, has insisted he was only armed to protect his family. He faces a maximum three-year sentence.
The “Black Friday” attacks were allegedly masterminded by Mumbai's underworld in revenge for deadly Hindu-Muslim religious clashes a few months earlier.
The court has convicted 91 people in the case while 23 people have been acquitted.
The alleged masterminds of the blasts, Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon, have been on the run since 1993.—AFP
