Gas supply suspended for seven hours

GUJRANWALA, Dec 18: Gas supply to dozen areas of the city remained suspended for seven hours after a five-inch diameter rupture in pipeline on Ferozwal Road on Monday. The labourers were digging to install Water and Sanitation Authority pipelines when they hit the pipeline, leaving the rupture. Gas supply to Wahdat Colony, Faqirpura, Kachi Pumpwali, Kacha Eminabad Road, Chaman Shah and Shahzada Shaheed Colony remained suspended from 12am to 7pm which caused great difficulties to industrial, commercial and domestic consumers.

Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) authorities sent team to fix the problem and a SNGPL spokesman said that the supply had been restored to the affected areas.

VACCINATED: Over 1,600 captives of the central jail were administrated anti-hepatitis vaccination under the Prime Minister Programme here on Monday.

Reports said that health teams visited different barracks for the purpose with the permission of the authority concerned.

Jail superintendent Mian Shaukat Ali and jail hospital medical officer Dr Riasat Ali Sethi said that all 4,000 prisoners and 350 jail officials would be vaccinated during the next phase.
