Inflated power bills irk citizens

Published December 19, 2006

TOBA TEK SINGH, Dec 18: Citizens have expressed their resentment over inflated electricity bills for November issued by the Faisalabad electric supply company (Fesco) and demanded action against responsible officials.

A group of consumers told this correspondent that they received bills more than the reading on their meters. They said the Fesco staff had also started disconnecting supply to all those who failed to deposit these inflated bills within due date.

They alleged that the company had sent these bills to meet its line losses.

When contacted Fesco deputy-manager (operations) Mian Muhammad Shakoor admitted that he had received complaints regarding overbilling and issued show-cause notices to respective meter readers and action would be taken against them. He claimed that all such bills were being corrected at his office.
