PESHAWAR, Dec 18: Students of the Khyber Medical College living in hostels are facing many problems due to lack of basic facilities there. “We pay hefty hostel fee but there are no proper facilities in the hostel,” said a boarder of the Cenna Hall that houses about 200 students. He said the hostel even lacked proper water and sanitation facilities.
The situation in the Razi Hall, which accommodates more than 250 students, is no different. Students said the hostel’s lighting system was not good and they faced water shortages.
They said the hostel needed urgent renovation because the rooms were stinking. The cupboards and doors of many rooms were broken. They said they were not provided with proper food.
Students of the Qasim Hall made similar complaints. They said they faced the problem of shortage of hot water in the winter. Most of the geysers in the hostel needed to be replaced, they added.
“Small particles fall from roofs, which students inhale, making them prone to diseases. Doors and bathrooms are in poor shape,” said a student.
KMC Principal Prof (Dr) Fazal Ahmad said he was aware of the students’ problems.
