KARACHI, Dec 17: A keen tussle is going on between two seasoned jockeys of Karachi Racecourse — Mohammad Essa and M. Nasir for the Champion Rider of the Year award. The title will be bestowed after the last race meeting of the year which takes place on Dec 31. Prior to that, the prestigious Quaid-i-Azam Gold Cup will be staged on Dec 25.

The two riders again excelled on Sunday when they shared six races amongst themselves. Nasir, however, enjoys a slight edge over his opponent (59-58) at the end of days’ races.

Nasir caught the eye of race goers when he had convincingly beat the reigning Champion Rider of the Year Essa in three races when they came across in the Dec 10 meeting.—AZ
