Chinese player to play for United

LONDON, Dec 16: Manchester United has secured a work permit for Chinese striker Dong Fangzhuo, allowing him to play in the English Premier League after two seasons on loan in Belgium.United signed Dong from Chinese club Dalian Shide in January 2004 and has spent the past two seasons at Royal Antwerp.

“Dong has been doing exceptionally well and scoring a lot of goals at Antwerp,” Ferguson told Manchester United TV on Friday. “He has great pace and power and the boy has a big chance.”

He'll join up with United in January.

The 21-year-old has played on United's last two preseason tours. In July, he scored in United's 1-0 win over the Kaizer Chiefs in its tour to South Africa.—Agencies
