3 highwaymen injured in firing

SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 16: Villagers fired and injured three highwaymen who were robbing the passengers of a van near Chak 42 on GT Road, 40 km from Sheikhupura, on Saturday.

Four highwaymen on motorcycles intercepted the Lahore-to-Narowal wagon and started looting the passengers. Meanwhile, people from nearby areas came to know about the robbery. They arrived there to rescue the passengers and opened fire on the robbers injuring three of them. Identified as Fayyaz, Shabir and Amanullah, they were later handed over to Ferozewala police for investigation. One of the robbers who remained unhurt fled.

MURDER: A man shot dead his daughter and injured his wife and another daughter over a family feud in the city area on Saturday.

Accused Akbar exchanged hot words with his wife, Nasim, and later started indiscriminate firing in his house, leaving his daughter, Iqra, dead and Nasim and another daughter, Naila, injured. The injured were admitted to the District Headquarters hospital. The accused fled, while Saddar Police Station are investigating the case.
