KARACHI: 69 deprived of vehicles, phones

KARACHI, Dec 16: Sixty nine people were deprived of their cars, motorbikes or cellphones in various localities on Saturday.

Twenty five vehicles – eight cars and 17 motorcycles – were taken away. Two persons were deprived of their cars at gunpoint and six cars were stolen. Eight motorbikes were snatched at gunpoint and nine others were stolen.

Twenty three people reported that they were intercepted at gunpoint in different areas where bandits robbed them of their cellphones, cash and belongings. Twenty one cellphones were stolen.

ACCIDENTS: A motorcyclist died after he was hit by a truck in Gizri police limits on Khayaban-i-Ittehad.

The motorcyclist was later identified as Sher Bahadur, 35, resident of Kalapul. The errant driver escaped leaving behind the truck, which was impounded by the police.

A pedestrian, Ahmed Ali, 22, died after being hit by a minibus near Saudabad Chowrangi. Area people gathered and set the minibus on fire.

In Orangi, a minibus hit a motorcycle near Zia Turning.

Khalid and his mother Farkhanda, on the motorbike, fell to the ground. Farkhanda died on the spot.
