CHITTAGONG, Dec 15: Bangladesh’s seam bowler Mashrafe Mortaza looks likely to finish as the highest wicket-taker in One-day Internationals in 2006.
Mortaza took two in the match against Scotland on Friday, bringing his tally to 47 in 26 matches with another game against Scotland to come in Dhaka on Sunday.
Mortaza has one wicket more than Australian left-arm seamer Nathan Bracken, who has claimed 46 wickets in 23 matches. Australia's Brett Lee has taken 44 wickets in 26 ODIs but the world champions do not have another before the end of the year.
Bangladesh's Abdur Razzak and Jerome Taylor of the West Indies still have a chance to overtake Mortaza.
Taylor has so far taken 39 wickets while Razzak has 41 wickets on his credit.—Reuters
