HYDERABAD: 20 students awarded gold medals: Sindh University convocation

HYDERABAD, Dec 15: Governor of Sindh Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan conferred degrees on 633 graduates and postgraduates and awarded medals to the students who had topped in their respective disciplines at the Sindh University Convocation 2005 held at the university’s Jamshoro campus on Friday.
Ten students received the chancellor's gold medals and 60 got the vice chancellor's silver medals while ten more were awarded special gold medals for their outstanding performance in different disciplines. Twelve students were conferred PhD degrees while five candidates received MPhil degrees.
He urged to expedite work on the establishment of Sindh University Mirpurkhas campus and said that he would ask the provincial finance department to find some way of supplementing the university's efforts to provide its students better transport facility.
He assured that the university's request for running a shuttle train service between Mirpurkhas and Sindh University would be taken up with the federal railway minister.
The governor announced Rs25,000 each for the recipients of gold medals and Rs10,000 each for silver medallists, which he said would be given to them at the Governor's House over a cup of tea.
VC Dr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui in his address welcomed the governor and guests and highlighted the university’s performance in various fields.
