KARACHI: Quaid-i-Azam museum stays closed on Wednesday

KARACHI, Dec 15: The envoy representing the world’s most powerful country in Islamabad was denied entry to Quaid-i-Azam House Museum on Wednesday, as it is the weekly holiday for the museum. The envoy appreciated the law observing attitude of the management and said he would visit some other day.
Sources said a few security people from the consulate general’s office, came to the museum’s front door which was closed and said they wanted to meet the in charge officer. The administration office remains open on Wednesday and closes on Sunday.
They were informed the museum was closed, but they insisted on meeting him. They were allowed entry. The security personnel informed the officer the ambassador had come from Islamabad and wanted to visit the museum and they had come to see and check security arrangements, so the ambassador could visit.
The officer again informed them the museum is closed on Wednesday, the doors are sealed on Tuesday evening and reopened on Thursday morning and it could not be de-sealed on Wednesday. The security personnel then returned. A little later, the officer received a phone call came from the consulate general with the request that the ambassador wanted to visit the museum. The officer concerned, however, once again showed his inability to open the museum.
The officials in the diplomatic mission told the officer they could “talk” to someone in Islamabad and the museum would be opened in no time, but they did not want to make such a small request.
The officer regretted and said the rules said the museum was not open on Wednesdays, however, if the ambassador wished, he could visit the courtyard and park adjacent to the museum building.
After some time, the consulate office called and said that if the museum was closed, the ambassador would visit on another visit and prior information intimated to the museum authorities.
