PESHAWAR, Dec 14: NWFP Health Minister Inayatullah Khan has ordered provision of quality health services in hospitals and dispensaries.

He issued these directives while presiding over a meeting of the Health Regularity Authority here on Thurdsay.

The acting chief of the health sector reforms and research unit, Dr Nasir Idrees, Dr Inam of the World Bank, Dr Bernd Appelt of GTZ, consultant Salvia Sax, Dr Javed, Dr Shaheen Afridi and Dr Nadeem attended the meeting.

Barbra Donaldson of the International Society for Quality in Health Care said that various standards had been set for primary and secondary healthcare.

She said that a set of 30 standards had been set up for the primary health care.

She said that the standards included provision of clean water at basic health units, quality services, environmental cleanliness and protection from radiological rays.

She said that written guidelines for treatment of various diseases and collection of data of diseases would be a part of the standards.

Other experts called for strengthening the Health Regularity Authority and stressed the need for efficient role of the Health Foundation and health directorate to regulate the sector.
