Three more die from burns

LAHORE, Dec 12: Three more children who had sustained burns in a road accident in the Ferozwala area on Monday succumbed to their injuries in Mayo Hospital on Tuesday.

Bashir Ahmad along with his wife, Nasreen, eight children and sister-in-law Zaibunnissa and her children was on way to Lahore from Narowal when he dozed off while driving. His vehicle rammed into a pole near Rana Town on GT Road. Electricity wires fell on the jeep that burnt the vehicle leaving the people on board injured.

Bashir’s daughter Ayesha died on the spot, while others were taken to the hospital where Rabia, 15, Bilal, 9, and Fatima, 8, succumbed to injuries on Tuesday.

Bashir, Nasreen, Zaib, Aqsa, 15, Usman, 13, Ahmed, 11, Hifza, 9, and Maimoona, 6, are still hospitalised.

The funeral prayers for the children were offered at Baghbanpura, and they were buried in a local graveyard in the presence of aggrieved relatives.

Bashir Ahmad is a resident of Multan Colony in Shalamar, Baghbanpura, and currently posted in Ferozwala as deputy district officer in the Water Management Department.
