RAWALPINDI, Dec 12: University of Health Sciences Vice- Chancellor Prof (Dr) Mubashar Hussain Malik has called for promoting research culture in medical colleges.

He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Computer Research and Resource Laboratory at Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC).

Under a Rs34.8 million HEC-funded project, 12 computer resource centres will be established at medical and dental colleges affiliated with the UHS.

These centres would be equipped with latest 20-30 P-IV computers and related paraphernalia.

Rawalpindi Medical College is the second institution where such a centre has been inaugurated. Students at these centres would have access to 18,000 research journals so that they could benefit from the technological advancements in medical education.

Prof Mubashar said video conferencing facility was also being provided at the affiliated institutions so that students could interact with international academia and improve their knowledge base.

He urged the students to benefit from these facilities being provided by the university. He recalled the progress made by the university in different fields of medical education.
