LPG price up from today

LAHORE, Dec 11: Liquified petroleum gas price will go up by Rs2 per kg from Tuesday owing to increase in prices by marketing companies to profit from decrease in temperature.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the LPG Distributors Association chairman said the retail price was being increased because the marketing companies had enhanced the price of a 11.8kg domestic cylinder by Rs15 to Rs25 without any justification.

The producers had also not raised the prices either, but the marketing companies had raised the prices to benefit from increase in consumption as a result of fall in temperature.

He said the government should take notice of the unjustified increase in LPG prices by the marketing companies aimed at depriving consumers of the benefit of decrease in prices on account of exemption of the import of commodity from customs duty.

The retail prices had been reduced by an average of Rs5 per kg after exemption of import from customs duty, but the marketing companies had deprived the consumers of a part of the benefit by raising the prices.
