LAHORE, Dec 11: Twelve officials of the Pakistan Railways were given new assignments while General Manager (Operations) Saleemur Rahman Akhoond retired on Monday.
Mr Akhoond was the Federal Government Inspector of Railways before assuming his responsibilities as GM (Operations) on Sept 15 last year.
Risalpur Locomotive Factory Managing Director Asad Saeed was asked to look after the work of GM (Operations) in addition to his own duties.
Additional General Manager (Freight) Ali Arif was made managing director of the Railways Advisory and Consultancy Services Ltd while incumbent Ashfaq Khattak had been relived of his duties to join the Pakistan Administrative Staff College course, a prerequisite to promotion to BS-21.
Additional General Manager (Infrastructure and Business Unit) Imtiazul Haq was asked to look after the work of the Federal Government Inspector of Railways in addition to his own duties.
Outgoing GM Akhoond held the charge of the office of the FGIR since the retirement of incumbent Imam Din Bhatti.
Chief Commercial Manager (Freight) Gulraiz Hashmi would be the AGM (Freight), General Manager (Manufacturing) Mushtaq Khan Jadoon would be the GM (Services and Marketing). The post was lying vacant after the retirement of Abdul Wahab Awan.
Mughalpura Workshops Divisional Superintendent Farooq Aziz would be the GM (Manufacturing) and 1300 high capacity wagons project director Noor Muhammad Mashood would take his place.
Deputy Chief Mechanical Engineer (marketing) Liaqat Chughtai would be the new project director of the 1300 HCWs.
Railways Construction Company (Railcop) Managing Director Fida Muhammad would be the joint director (Admn) in the ministry of railways in place of Jalaluddin Khan, who had been asked to report to the GM (Operations).
Awaiting posting, Arshad Ali Wasti would be the liaison officer to the railway minister in place of Farrukh Taimur, who had been asked to report to the GM (Operations).
