GUJRANWALA, Dec 11: As many as four people, including the groom and his father, suffered injuries in aerial firing at Mangot Choller (Wahando) on Monday.
Reports said the Rasm-i-Hina of police department employee Sarfraz Ahmad was being celebrated on Sunday night. His friends resorted to aerial firing as a result of which bullets hit Sarfraz, his father Zafer Iqbal and guests Azim and Changir. They were rushed to local DHQ hospital in a critical condition while the groom was shifted to the Mayo.
The marriage ceremony was postponed by the family members after the incident.
Meanwhile, additional IG Malik Muhammad Iqbal and DPO Mian Muhammad Asif had already ordered action against those involved in aerial firing on the occasion of marriage ceremonies.
However, Wahando police is reportedly reluctant to register a case.
HUMAN SMUGGLERS: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) during a raid on Monday arrested 105 people who were deported from Muscat and nabbed two human smugglers and their accomplices.
This was stated by FIA additional director Naeem Akram Bharoka in a briefing.
He said Mushtaq of Sialkot and Munir of Mandi Bahauddin had sent these people abroad following receiving huge money.
BOOKED: A tehsil nazim and his two guards were booked by police on charges of manhandling a relative of UC naib nazim over election row in Naushera Virkan on Monday.
Reports said UC naib nazim Navid Nisar’s relative Zafar Iqbal was on his way home from fields when tehsil nazim Azher Qayyum Nahara and his guards Zahid and Zamand intercepted him and beat him up.
Later, the tehsil nazim also got a case registered against Zafar on charges of stealing billboards and bricks.
POs HELD: The regional police claimed on Monday to have arrested 99 proclaimed offenders and 104 court absconders during general hold-up in six districts of the division and recovered illicit arms and looted goods from their possession.
Additional IG Malik Muhammad Iqbal said at a briefing that at least 115 cases of illicit arms were registered against the accused.
