KCCA demand reduction in ticket rates for Karachi ODI

By Our Sports Correspondent

KARACHI, Dec 10: The Karachi Cricket Association (KCCA) has demanded of the Pakistan Cricket Board to bring the General Enclosure rates for the Karachi match at par with the Lahore and Faisalabad and not price them at a higher rate which will be grossly unfair to the thousands of cricket fans in the metropolis.

In a letter addressed to the PCB chairman Dr Nasim Ashraf on Sunday, the KCCA secretary Siraj-ul-Islam Bukhari has demanded that the rates of General Enclosure be brought down to Rs 50 instead of Rs 100 for Saturday’s match at the National Stadium.

“I am taking this liberty to draw your kind attention towards the rates of admission tickets for the fifth ODI between Pakistan and West Indies which appeared in the newspapers today. You will appreciate that despite being the Organizing Secretary of Karachi ODI, I am learning the rates of tickets through newspapers,” wrote Bukhari on Sunday.

“The organizing association and Pakistan Cricket Board used to sign a Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) before every test series so that the responsibilities of Associations and the PCB were well defined and we had not to depend to learn from newspapers for such informations. I am sure you will revive this policy for the next Test and ODI series whenever held in Pakistan.”

“I would fervently appeal to you (PCB chairman) to issue instructions to immediately reduce the rates of General Enclosure tickets for the Karachi ODI to be played on December 16, from Rs. 100 to Rs. 50 which is at par with the rates of General Enclosure tickets charged in the ODI matches at Faisalabad, and Lahore,” continued Bukhari.

“I am thoroughly convinced that you wish to provide maximum comforts to the cricket fans so that they come in large numbers to enjoy cricket in a festival manner. I am afraid that the decision of the functionaries responsible at PCB Head Quarters in Lahore for fixing the rates of cricket will frustrate this desire."
