Monitoring bodies to have woman councillors

By Our Correspondent

GUJRANWALA, Dec 10: The district council will induct almost all women councillors in monitoring committees under a Punjab government’s directive.

The council issued a circular here on Sunday, directing the respective departments to include women councillors in monitoring committees along with male members.

The number of women councillors in the district council is 68.

During a meeting held here the other day, the district council decided to include two women councillors, besides three or five nazims of union councils in each committee.

The number of such committees would be 31 or above, said a district council source.

These committees would be constituted during a council meeting at the end of the current month.

UN MISSION: As many as four SHOs (inspectors) of district police have been selected for United Nations Organisation (UNO) mission who will depart within a month.

A police source said here on Sunday that Sodara SHO Hafiz Imtiaz Ahmad, Qila Dedar Singh inspector Mian Tausif Ahmad, Kot Ladha inspector Iqbal Shah and police line inspector Muhammad Iqbal had offered their services for the purpose.

A UN team and interior ministry conducted their interviews and various tests and declared them successful. These police officers will be sent to East Timor, Liberia, Kosovo and Sudan for one year.
