By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 10: Lyari Town Nazim has urged the city government to establish child health care centres at town level.

These centres should be manned by a committee of elders in each town, said Lyari Town Nazim Malik Mohammad Fayyaz in a communication to City Nazim Syed Mustafa Kamal.

Mr Fayyaz also suggested that technical schools for vocational training should be set up at union council level to enable jobless youth to develop their skills in various fields and steps be taken to improve the existing facilities. He further said evening educational centres should be set up for jobless youth and an amount of Rs2,000 be fixed for unemployed youth of the locality.

Besides, he said steps should be taken to develop parks and playgrounds in all union councils to provide healthy atmosphere to the youth. Referring to the rising cases of child abuse, he said necessary laws should be introduced to protect the rights of children at school, workplace and home. In this regard, he said strict action should be taken against employers violating labour laws by employing child labour in dangerous jobs.

He also called for introducing uniform system of education and implementation of compulsory primary education scheme in letter and spirit to benefit the children belonging to low income groups.
