Missing trader found murdered

GUJRANWALA, Dec 9: A trader who had gone missing from his house in Kalarabad 10 days ago, was found murdered in a Khiali Town field on Saturday. Deceased Muhammad Siddiq had installed a plastic-pots manufacturing unit in his house and supplied pots to different shops. Ten days ago, he went out of his house but did not return. On Saturday, passers-by saw his body lying in the field and informed police and his heirs. District Headquarters Hospital doctors said the killer had shot Siddiq in his head. Police have not ascertained the motives behind the murder.

POLICE ATTACKED: The family of a court absconder allegedly attacked a police party and freed him in Ferozewala on Saturday.

Faisal Mahmood was involved in a criminal case and was declared an absconder by the court.

Police received information that he was present in his house. A police team, led by ASI Qasim, raided the house and arrested him.

Police claimed that his family and friends gathered there and beat them up. They fired shots in the air to intimidate them and freed Faisal.

A case was registered against the accused and others.

INJURED: Two brothers injured four of a family over a property dispute in Kot Shahan Cantonment on Saturday. Liaqat and Ashiq allegedly attacked Rehmat, his brother Shaukat, sister Farzana and nephew Arshad with knives and axes and fled after injuring them. The injured were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in a critical condition.

A ROBBERS’ DAY: Robbers looted commuters and three houses in four strikes in Gujranwala on Saturday.

Three highwaymen, who were travelling on a wagon (LXP-087) in the guise of commuters, held hostage the commuters near Jhelen village at gunpoint, stole cash, gold jewellery and mobile phones from them and fled.

Four robbers broke into the house of Sheikh Mukhtar Ahmad in Ilyas Colony, held hostage the inmates and locked them in a room. They looted Rs85,000, 17 tolas of gold jewellery, mobile phones and other valuables and sneaked into house of neighbourer Rizwan Ahmad. They looted Rs75,000, 23 tolas gold ornaments, mobile phones and watches from Rizwan’s house and fled.

Robbers broke into the house of Dr Ikramullah Bhatti in Satellite Town, held hostage the inmates at gunpoint and stole Rs50,000, gold jewellery and other valuables before fleeing. Police have registered cases and are investigating.
