Nine killed in road accidents

ISLAMABAD/MURREE, Dec 9: Nine persons were killed in separate road accidents in and around Islamabad on Saturday. Two minor girls Inzah Bibi, 8, and Insah Bibi, 1, suffered multiple injuries when they fell down from a passenger vehicle at Sangjani.

Both the girls were shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences where they died.

According to our Murree correspondent, two women were killed and seven others injured when a jeep (RIV-6747) coming from Jawa Village fell into a ravine near Chitta Mor.

Five women, who were seriously injured, were shifted to Pims.

According to Hamid Hussain, the driver of the jeep, he lost control of the vehicle when its tie-rod broke.

The women were heading to a marriage ceremony in Murree.

In Jhelum, three persons were killed and nine others injured in two accidents.

According to APP, a speeding bus collided with a truck and tractor-trolley near Lillah, leaving a police constable dead and five others injured.

In another accident, two persons, Mohammad Akbar and Mohammad Iqbal, were killed when a passenger van hit their motorbike on Mangla Road near Pindori Chowk. Five passengers of the van were also injured. The driver managed to escape.

OUR TAXILA CORRESPONDENT ADDS: Two persons were killed and another was seriously injured after being hit by an iron frame while travelling on the roof top of a vehicle on Jallala road near Chokar Village in the jurisdiction of Taxila Police Station.

Police sources said the persons were going with a marriage party when the incident took place. The iron frame had been installed to keep heavy traffic off the road.

The two victims, Ramzan and Rashid, who had sustained head injuries, died on the spot, while Irfan was taken to DHQ hospital Rawalpindi in critical condition.

TRADER FOUND DEAD: A trader’s bullet-riddled body was found on link road near Khuda village in the jurisdiction of the Hassanabdal Police Station.
