Waqar bowls SSGC to win over DHA in Grade-II final

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Dec 8: Devastating bowling by left-arm medium-pacer Waqar Ahmed who bagged eight wickets for 28 enabled Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) to win the Patron's Trophy Grade-II final against DHA by 80-runs at the LCCA ground on Friday.

Waqar, who sent down nine lethal overs, conceded 28 runs to skittle out DHA for just 63 in 17.4 overs as they chased a target of 144.

Waqar's bowling did not allow any DHA batsman to settle down and only Nasim Khan reached double figures (14). Waqar was declared Man of the Final.

Earlier, SSGC's batsmen failed to set an imposing total and could managed 143-7 in 28 overs after the final had been curtailed due to wet condition of the ground.

Medium-pacer Nasir Jalil was the pick of the bowlers for DHA with four for 58.

The win also elevated SSGC to next year’s Grade-I event.
