KARACHI, Dec 7: A division bench of the Sindh High Court on Thursday granted bail before arrest to a schoolteacher facing trial before an accountability court. Applicant Zahoor Ahmed Shaikh, junior schoolteacher at the Government High School, Rohri, Sukkur district, has been arraigned for preparing false and fabricated documents to draw a big amount as advance rent on behalf of thousands of his colleagues. The reference is being tried by an accountability court of Karachi.

The accused submitted through Advocate M. Nawaz Shaikh that the allegations against him were general in nature and no specific instance has been cited by the prosecution. He is a public servant and there should be no apprehension of his absconding. The entire documentary evidence was in the prosecution’s custody and there was no possibility of the accused tampering with it. The investigation was complete and the case was pending trial.

A division bench consisting of Justices Rehmat Husain Jafri and Mrs Yasmin Abbasy admitted the applicant to interim pre-arrest bail till December 13 in the sum of Rs100,000.
