The Sixth KaraFilm Festival inauguration ceremony, Tammanna Ka Chhatta Qadam, was held last evening in the Mohatta Palace Museum grounds. While promoting and ‘protecting’ film as an art form in Pakistan, KaraFilm board members also encourage alternative cinema, as such most of the films screened during the festival are those which depict society’s struggling issues. The festival also turns into a learning opportunity for filmmakers who converge to the city from different parts of the globe to screen their private ventures, The KaraFilm Society — besides screening movies for the general public — will also be holding talks and workshops on issues affecting electronic media in Pakistan. Inset: Members of the Indian delegation.
