Dur Mohammad beaten in first-round bout

DOHA, Dec 6: Pakistan’s Dur Mohammad Baloch fell in the opening-round welterweight bout at the Asian Games boxing here on Wednesday. Turkmenistan’s Aliasker Bashirov extended severe punishment to a struggling Dur Mohammad with sizzling blows while targeting his face as the referee stopped the contest in the third round.

The winner led the first three rounds 5-0, 12-1 and 5-1 which itself shows the extent of his superiority throughout the fight. So far none of the Pakistani boxers have won any medal. —APP
