LAHORE, Dec 6: Robbers continued striking in the city on Wednesday and took away cash and valuables in several successful hits. Six dacoits entered a house in South Cantonment and escaped with cash, jewellery, cell phones and a car.
Two motorcyclists intercepted a passer-by in the Sanda area and snatched cash and a cell phone from him.
Two armed men intercepted a man in front of a money-changer shop in Defence and snatched cash, a cell phone and a motorcycle from him.
Five motorcycles were stolen from Shahdara, Hanjarwal, Factory Area, Baghbanpura and Ichhra while a car was driven away from Hanjarwal.
GANGS BUSTED: Sadar, Mughalpura and South Cantonment police claimed on Wednesday to have arrested 18 members of three gangs of dacoits and recovered looted property and illegal weapons from their possession.
The accused confessed to 21 crimes of dacoity, robbery and motorcycle snatching.
A special team, led by the Sadar CIA DSP, nabbed nine members of the Imran gang from Darbar Adaalat Shah in the Chuhng area.
Another team, headed by the Mughalpura CIA DSP, apprehended six members of Tariq Zafar gang from BRB Canal.
Those arrested are Ibrar Husain, Riasat Ali, Naveed, Hanif, Shahib, Arshad Ali, Awais, Mohsan, Malik Rasheed, Tariq Zafar, Irshad Imran, Asif Ali, Faisal Rasheed, Ashraf and Sharif.
A special team, headed by the South Cantonment SPO, arrested Zohair Abbas, Rahman and Adnan when they were selling snatched cell phones. — Reporter
