GUJRANWALA, Dec 6: A man whose two sons and a daughter have been killed in Rakh Kikeranwali about one and a half years ago is still awaiting justice. Muhammad Siddiq told Dawn here on Wednesday that he shifted from Kot Bhagat, Daska, to Rakh Kikeranwali in Gujranwala.
He said his elder son Rashid was shot dead by unidentified people last year when he was on his way home from city by his motorcycle rickshaw near Upper Chenab canal. His second son Qaiser was gunned down by his relatives over domestic dispute on June 12, 2006.
He said People’s Colony police arrested accused Asghar and Ashraf while Mushtaq and others escaped. Later, Mushtaq was caught by the people in Sialkot when he was fleeing after a robbery and they beat him to death.
Siddiq said Asghar and Ashraf began to intimidate him for pursuing the murder case of his son and shot dead his teenaged daughter Robina on Nov 23.
He said the police have failed to arrest the killers of his son and daughter. He appealed to the governor and chief minister to help him get justice.
KIDNAP: A schoolboy was kidnapped for ransom from Jandiala Baghwala village on Wednesday.
Primary school student Afaq Ahmad was on his way to school when three people kidnapped him. Later, they demanded Rs200,000 ransom from his family by phone. Saddar police have registered a case against Abdul Ghafoor and his accomplices.
BOMB BLAST CASE: The anti-terrorism court No 1 continued the hearing of imambargah bomb blast case of Mandi Bahauddin and recorded the statements of eight witnesses, including a DSP, on Wednesday.
The court heard the case inside the central jail amid tight security and recorded the statements of DSP Ehsanullah, Inspector Asif Ahmad and, SIs Muhammad Nawaz and Nisar Ahmad and others.
Accused Khwaja Ibrahim and Amir Shahzad, etc., were present in the court. The court adjourned the hearing for Dec 12.
ACQUITTED: Seven accused involved in the murder of six people of Ferozewala were acquitted by the anti-terrorism court No 2 on Wednesday. The court declared accused Irshad Ahmad as proclaimed offender while acquitted Asmatullah, Riaz, Mushtaq, Nadim, Sarwar, Ijaz and Riasat Ali by giving them the benefit of the doubt.
According to the prosecution, they had killed Naeemullah, Mansha, Ali Raza, Amin, Ehtasham and Jamil over a local bodies election row in Ferozewala village on August 11, 2005.
RELEASED: Thirty-four more activists of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal were released on bail on Wednesday. Aroop police had arrested them on Nov 30 from Rawalpindi bypass intersection on the charge of violating Section 144.
