KHAIRPUR, Dec 6: The district council of Khairpur held its session on Wednesday and discussed issues raised by the Khairpur Dost Panel (KDP) member, Irshad Talpur, regarding opening of agricultural input outlets during wheat sowing season including fertilizers, pesticides and wheat seed. He also demanded proper supply of water to the tail-end growers.

The KDP and the ADP members told the house that fertilizers were being sold for Rs900 to 1000 in black marketing. They regretted that the input was not available at the rates fixed by the government.

The members complained of shortage of water and added that sufficient water was not being released in the minors and decided to call irrigation officials on Thursday at the district council meeting who would brief the members about reasons behind shortage of irrigation water.

The ADP member, Faqir Nazeer Hisbani, demanded that the irrigation officials should also be directed to bring the list of fake cases lodged against the ADP nazims, district council members and the growers.

Dr Ghulam Hyder Phul of KDP, raised the point that the basic health units lacked the required staff, medicines and particularly there were no lady technicians due to which the female patients of rural areas visiting the BHU face problems.The KDP member, Qalab Ali, complained about shortage of medicines at the rural health centre, Chondiko and other BHUs including Tajjal, Pir Bux Gaho, Kathore, Nara gate and Sikandarabad of the Nara taluka.

He drew the attention of the house to the unavailability of anti-snake vaccine, for which people were paying Rs1500to 2000 each for such vaccines to the RHC and BHU staff. Other members, belonging to the Nara taluka, also supported the move.
