KARACHI: Subscribers complain of dead phones

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Dec 6: Several land phone lines have been out of order for many days and the Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited officials have failed to fix the fault. Several phones went out of order since Sunday’s rainfall and the PTCL rectified many of them. However, people in various localities complained that their phones were out of order for many months and despite the fact that complaints were lodged with the PTCL, their service was not restored.

A subscriber said that his phone number, 222-3686, was out of order for the past five months and several complaints with the PTCL complaint numbers 18 and 106 were lodged but the fault was not fixed. He said the PTCL had been sending bills regularly which were paid. The bills contained the line rent while there was no line for the past five months, he added.

Another subscriber Farooq Ahmed said his number, 664-6597, went out of order when the monsoon started in June this year. The line was restored for two days and again went out of order. “We have been paying the bills regularly while no service is available”, he added.

Dr Ali Wasif said the phone number of his clinic, 272-9758 was out of order again after it was restored for a short span when it went out of order in June’s monsoon season. He said several complaints were lodged but to no avail.

Another subscriber, with phone number 506-8843 said that his phone was out of order for many days and despite lodging various complaints, the service was not restored.

A subscriber from Nazimabad No 4 said his telephone (6622249) had been out of order since Saturday.
