KARACHI, Dec 6: Shipping activity remained normal at the port where two ships carrying containers and chemicals took berths at QICT and Engro Terminal, respectively, during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release.

Berth occupancy remained at 80 per cent at the port where a total of eight ships occupied berths to load and unload containers, seeds, chemicals, crude oil and iron ore, respectively, during the report period.

The port handled cargo volume of 68,246 tons comprising of 41,199 tons of imports and 27,047 tons of exports inclusive of containerized cargo carried in 2,043 containers (Teus).

There are six ships at the outer anchorage namely Legiony Poiskie (seeds), Shintoku (chemicals), Warbah (diesel), Sturdy Falcon (rice) and ACX Margurite (containers).

Three ships sailed out to the sea during the period under review.
