Double glory for Nasir
KARACHI, Dec 5: Promising Nasir Mushtaq exhibited outstanding performance to conjure up two victories in the STA development tennis series which resumed after a day at CDGK sports complex on Tuesday.
Rain had compelled the organisers to put off their matches for a day on Monday.
Second seed Nasir, 16, who has represented the country in junior Davis Cup at Thailand earlier this year, first handed a 6-1, 6-4 defeat to third seed Zuhair Raza to cruise into juniors singles final where he meets Zuhair’s elder brother and top seed Abbas who got the better of Hashim Khan 6-2, 7-5.
Playing his second match, he accounted for M. Z. Khattak 6-0, 6-0 to earn a berth in last four of men’s singles. Abdul Majeed (Hyderabad), Arif Irfanullah and Danish Ahmed were the other three who have made it to pre-finals.
Two Hyderabad players – Rafi Darbari and Shabbir Gul failed to turn up after confirming their entries.
