CHAKWAL, Dec 5: Secretary General Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians Raja Pervez Ashraf has claimed on Tuesday that no one can stop the PPP to come into power as it was the biggest political force in the country.
“Restoration of the 1973 Constitution in its true spirit is the priority of the Pakistan People’s Party,” he said while talking to members of the Chakwal Press Club.
Pervez Ashraf was confident that Benazir Bhutto would return back to the country ‘very soon’ to fill, what he called the political vacuum. “The present situation of the country demands that she must participate in the mainstream politics of the country,” he added.
Replying to a question, Mr Ashraf, also an MNA, clarified that the PPP has not supported the government but the Women’s Protection Bill, which was the basic manifesto of the PPP. He said that in the near future the party would also play its due role in this regard.
Mr Ashraf categorically declared that the present assemblies can not elect President Musharraf for the next five years.
The PPP leader vowed to struggle for free and fair elections in the country. He said that the people and the PPP both would ‘strongly resist’ if the forthcoming general elections were rigged or manipulated.
