KARACHI, Dec 5: A gang of robbers involved in looting passengers especially overseas Pakistanis was arrested here on Tuesday. Police on a tip-off picked up four men, later identified as Mohsin, Faisal, Ahmed and Saqib. According to police, the arrested men have confessed of having involved in street crime.

City Police chief Tariq Jamil confirmed the arrests and said that the arrests were effected by the Gulshan TPO Saquib Ismail, who later told Dawn that the arrested suspects disclosed the number of their gang members as 10.

They usually chased passengers on their way home and as a metro-cab would stop at the doorstep, these robbers struck their target and robbed them of their precious earning and important documents, he added.

“We are looking for other members of the gang as their ringleader is still at large. We have raided their hideouts and efforts are on. As the case has been registered, the investigation wing is advancing the probe”, the TPO added.

All the arrested suspects belonged to lower middle and middle class, residing in various areas of the defunct district central.

Since January this year, 61 cases were registered by complainants at different police stations across the city that they had been robbed of their valuables as soon as they reached the doorstep of their residences.
