Independent Kashmir opposed

NEW DELHI, Dec 4: President Pervez Musharraf has said that he is against independence for Kashmir, but both Pakistan and India will have to compromise over the disputed territory.

“Yes, we are against independence” for Kashmir, Gen Musharraf told the Indian NDTV news channel in an interview, excerpts of which were made available to the media on Monday.

The president said both the countries would have to make compromises and be prepared to give up the positions they had held on Kashmir for almost six decades.—AFP
