‘Windies will cope without Bravo, Sarwan’

RAWALPINDI, Dec 4: West Indies coach Bennet King believes his side will rise to the occasion in the five-match one-day series in Pakistan despite losing key men Dwayne Bravo and Ramnaresh Sarwan.

Sarwan was ruled out of the one-day series with a hairline fracture of his right foot sustained on the last day of the final Test while all-rounder Bravo was released from the team for personal reasons.

“I am confident of the side coming good but it will Test us as a team as they have been our key one day performers over the past six to 12 months,” King said ahead of Tuesday's opener in Rawalpindi.

Sarwan and Bravo have been key performers in the good form shown by West Indies in recent one-day tournaments, which saw them reaching the finals of the DLF Cup in Malaysia and the Champions Trophy in India.

In both finals they were beaten by world champions Australia after defeating them in both tournaments in the group stages.—Reuters
