QUETTA, Dec 4: A spokesman of the Balochistan government has said that a report in the Dec 4 issue of Dawn about strike in Quetta and other parts of the province does not reflect the factual position.
The spokesman said that the strike call given by the Balochistan National Party (Mengal) went unnoticed in Quetta, the largest commercial centre of the province. “Shops and markets remained open and carried out their business as usual. The vehicular traffic in Quetta was also normal.”
However, he said that some minor incidents of blocking roads, including the RCD Highway, had taken place, but traffic was restored with ‘timely intervention of law-enforcement agencies’.
In other districts of the province, the spokesman said, the situation remained calm and peaceful.
