KARACHI: Survey of kutchi abadies ordered


KARACHI, Dec 4: The Sindh Minister for Local Government and kutchi abadis, Mohmmad Hussain, on Monday issued directives for survey of the kutchi abadis in Korangi to ascertain their status for provision of lease.

Speaking at a public meeting in Korangi, he said cases of the regularisation of these areas would be considered after comprehensive evaluation.

The minister directed the town municipal administration of Korangi to make all-out efforts to solve the problems related to water, sewerage and roads. He also urged UC nazims and councillors to facilitate the masses in this regard.

The minister observed that the TMAs were doing an excellent job, but room still existed for improvement. He warned that no slackness would be tolerated in the execution of uplift schemes.

The minister also assured the residents of early construction of boundary wall of sports ground and said that potable water would be provided to areas identified by the people.

He said that the purpose of such meetings was to acquire first-hand knowledge of problems confronted by the residents

The minister assured the participants that they would get progress report regarding their grievances presented to him, within three days.

Speaking on the occasion, Korangi Town Nazim Mohammad Arif Khan Advocate said that a visible change could be noticed regarding various uplift schemes and cleanliness situation.

He said encroachments from different areas of the town had been removed to facilitate implementation of development projects.

TMO Dr Mukhtar A. Palejo informed the minister that control room had been established at the town office where people could lodge their complaints any time.

He also informed about the establishment of Garbage Transfer Station where 250 tons of garbage was brought daily from all over the town and sent to Razaqabad landfill site.

Later, the minister received applications from the residents and issued orders to the officials concerned for early solution of the problems.—APP
