13 Maoist rebels killed

RAIPUR (India), Dec 4: Indian security forces have killed at least 13 Maoist rebels in the restive central state of Chhattisgarh, police said on Monday. The rebels were killed late on Sunday during a shootout after some 500 heavily armed rebels attacked a paramilitary post in Dantewada district, about 500 kilometres south of state capital Raipur, police official said. The attack was aimed at creating fear among people and seizing arms and ammunition from the security post, police official said.—AFP
