‘Pakistani rowing team to do well in Asiad’

ISLAMABAD, Dec 2: Secretary Pakistan Rowing Federation, Rizwanul Haq on Saturday said Pakistani sailors participating in Doha Games were a well-trained lot and capable of making their way to the victory stand.

Talking to newsmen, he said the Pakistani squad for Asian Games regatta comprises the best rowing players in the country. “The bronze medalist of last Asiad and winner of Asian Championship in lightweight single scull event Muhammad Akram, Maqbool Ali from Pakistan Army and Wapda's Shoaib are very good players and we hope that they will not return empty handed,” he said.

Rizwan, who is also the national rowing coach, said that China and Japan are hot favourites in the competition. However, Pakistan's main rivals in this sport is India.
