GUJRANWALA, Dec 2: Police continued crackdown on activists of Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal on third successive day on Saturday and arrested 150 more people from the city, Kamoki, Rahwali, Gakkhar, Wazirabad and other cities of the district.
District MMA president Bilal Qudratullah condemned the arrest of workers and demanded that all arrested workers should be released immediately.
He claimed that police entered the house of Shabab-i-Milli president Saeed Khokhar and humiliated women.
Police arrested Jamaat-i-Islami former district president Rana Khalid Mahmood, cantonment amir Dr Tariq Yousaf, Wazirabad union council No 29 amir Muhammad Irfan, his neighbour Javed Ehsanullah and guard Azam Khan, etc.
Similarly, police arrested dozens of activists from Kamoki and other areas during raids on their residences. The cantonment police arrested prayer leader Sufi Abdul Rashid of Kashmir Colony in place of Jamaat ticket holder Malik Abdul Rashid and sent him to jail without any justification.
JAIL CASE: The anti-terrorism court No 1 on Saturday continued the hearing of Sialkot jail case and recorded the statement of Elite Force counsel.
The court adjourned the hearing for Dec 6.
CHARGE SHEET: The local anti-terrorist court No 1 issued a charge sheet to four accused in Malikwal imambargah bomb case on Saturday.
According to the prosecution, Sohail Anjum, Muhammad Ijaz, Azhar Abdul Rehman and Dr Muhammad Arshad were arrested by the police when they were placing a bomb at an imambargah in Malikwal on Oct 20, 2006.
