SHEIKHUPURA, Dec 2: A man along with his wife and three children was allegedly shot dead by his step-brother over a property dispute in Mohalla Ahmad Pura in Muridke late on Friday night.
Reports said the accused, Sajjad Hussain, had returned from Saudi Arabia after he was deported by Saudi government for residing there illegally sometime back.
On his return, Sajjad started objecting to the distribution of the family’s inherited property and even had a scuffle with his stepbrother Syed Tahir over the issue.
Late on Saturday night, he went to Tahir’s house with some pieces of fried fish and offered the same to the family. After eating the fish, the family members—Syed Tahir, his wife Najaf Bibi, son Tayyab Shehzad, 16, daughter Sundas, 11, and seven-year-old Sahar—fell unconscious.
The accused, who had already prepared a plan to kill all the family members, opened fire on the unconscious victims. Meanwhile, his sister-in-law Najaf regained consciousness and tried to put up resistance. The accused shot her dead also.
Muridke police said they had arrested the accused, along with the weapon used in crime. The accused, during initial interrogation, confessed to have committed the offence, the police added.

“When police besieged their hideout, the outlaws opened fire. Our retaliation left Aslam dead while his accomplices managed their escape in darkness,” Syedwala police claimed.

Reports said that armed bandits entered the shop Tabish Enterprises and held up salesmen and customers. The intruders collected calling cards worth Rs1.3 million and Rs3 million in cash and escaped.
